ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT OF THE TRUST
MARKAZ-E-ADAB-O-SCIENCE, RANCHI

Year 2000- 2001
  1. With the help of MAEF's 2nd installment 4 Computers, I UPS, 1 Scanner 1 Modem and furniture's for IGNOU Special Study Centre were purchased.

  2. Local Area Network (LAN) was installed.
  3. Inspection of lGNOU Special Study Centre was carried out by Mr. V.P Rupam, Regional Director, IGNOU of Jharkhand area.

  4. Markaz-E-Adab-O-Science was awarded as Special Study Centre for Minorities by IGNOU vide its letter no. IG/RSD/NOTFICATION/99 dated 9/6/2000 for the courses of CIC, BCA and MCA.

  5. IGNOU awarded Special Study Centre (SSC No. 0531-D) first time to any minority Trust in greater Bihar for high end Computer courses.

  6. Secretary Trust Joined as Co-ordinator IGNOU,SSC at its regional centre of Jharkhand in the month of June 2000.

  7. A new Internet connection was taken from DOT, VSNL.
  8. The first batch of 51 students of One-Year Diploma in Computer Application and Multilingual DTP of NCPUL passed out in the month of June 2000.

  9. 40% of the students got jobs even before the declaration of result.

  10. Out of 51 students, 16 students got distinction, and rest secured Ist class.

  11. Ms. Nayeema Khatoon was the topper of 1st batch.

  12. The second batch of One-Year DCA/DTP was started from Ist July 2000.

  13. 70 students got admission after entrance test. Presently 20 girls students are enrolled out of 70.

  14. The inaugural function of IGNOU SSC was held on 23rd July, 2k in which Mr. D. K. Chaudhary Director, All India Regional Service Division IGNOU was the Chief Guest.

  15. The convocation of One-Year DCA/DTP Course was organised on 10-9-2k.

  16. Due to the satisfactory performance in one year, Ministry of HRD, NCPUL, has awarded another computer training centre for girls to this Trust, classes of this exclusively girl's centre started from 16/10/2000.

  17. The New Computer Centre for Girls namely "Sajjad Institute of Information Technology" (SIIT) was started in a rented house at Doranda, Ranchi.

  18. NCPUL supplied 6 HP Pentium III machines with Multimedia, 1 Laser Printer, 1 Inkjet Printer, 1 Modem, Networking and licensed Software for SIIT.

  19. An Induction Meeting of IGNOU was held on 27th Jan. 2001 in which 60 students attended.

  20. From MAEF 3rd installment 1 Computer, 1 UPS and Benches for IGNOU classes were purchased in Feb. 2001.

  21. Counselling classes of IGNOU for CIC, BCA and MCA started from 4th Feb. 2001.

  22. IGNOU provided 51 students for CIC, 27 students for BCA and 10 students for MCA.

  23. A symposium on : " Problems of Modern Education and their Solutions among Muslim Minority in Jharkhand State" was held on 25.02.2001 under the auspices of Markaz-E-Adab-O-Science at Doranda Urdu Library Hall, Ranchi.

Year 2001- 2002
  1. The Second Batch of 70 Students of one year Diploma in Computer Application and Multilingual DTP OF NCPUL Passed out in September-2002. 41 students got distinction, 18 Students secured first class and 1 secured 2nd class.

  2. 50% of the Students got job and self employed.

  3. The second Convocation of One year DCA & DTP Course Organised on 09-12-2001, in which four cabinet ministers of Jharkhand State Govt. attended the function.

  4. The Welcome & Farewells programme of one year DCA & DTP Course Organised on 7-7-2001.

  5. The third batch Started from 7th July 2002 in which 61 Students enrolled.

  6. Iftar Party organised by Markaz-E-Adab-O-Science on 9/12/2001.

  7. An Induction meet of IGNOU SSC organised at Markaz-E-Adab-O-Science in which 105 No. of Students enrolled for MCA, BCA and CIC Courses of IGNOU.

Year 2002- 2003
  1. An Induction meet of IGNOU was Organised on 12th Jan 2003.

  2. 83 No. of Students were promoted to next semester. Jan 2003. The new enrolled students no. was increased to 93.

  3. A speech competition on 14/11/2002 was organised on the eve of Maulana Azad day.

  4. 7 No. of students participated in the competition.

  5. Afzal Hussain stood first, Shagufta Fatimah stood second & Shagufta Jamal secured third position.

  6. 61 Students got admission in one year DCA & DTP of NCPUL Course in 4th batch.

  7. The third convocation was organised on 12th April, 2003 in which Education Minister of Jharkhand Govt. distributed the Diplomas.

  8. All together 67 no. of students awarded Diploma.

  9. A Career Guidance & Counselling Programme was organised on 31st May 2003, in which about 100 Muslims students of 10+2 level attended.


Year 2003-2004

  2. 3 New P-IV machines purchased for the centre from corpus fund on 21/07/2003.

  3. The forth Convocation of SCTGC & SIIT was organised on 25thJan. 2004 in which Shree Samresh Singh, Honourable Cabinet Minister of Science & Technology, Govt. of Jharkhand distibuted the Diplomas.

  4. The Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University Shree S.S. Kushwaha presided the convocation and Smt. Indu Dhan, V.C. Sidhu Kanha University was present as Guest of Honour.

  5. The Trust obtained 80G certification on 20th November, 2003 from Income Tax Deppt.

  6. Total 998 no. of books equivalent to Rs.59,880/- were freely distributed among students of SCTGC & SIIT in the year 2003-04 batch.

  7. 41 No's of SCTGC, SIIT and IGNOU students got scholarship of amount Rs.34,600/- in the form of Full Free, Half Free tution fee in the year 2003-04 batch.

  8. Total 600 No's of scholarship provided from primary to secondary level of amount Rs. 6,57,000/- till date.

Year 2004-2005
  1. Trust purchased 2 acres of land for the development of infrastructure on 08/06/2004 at the outskirts of Ranchi near Barway Village, Ormanjhi.

  2. IGNOU Special Study Centre for BCA, MCA and CIC has been shifted to a prime location at G.K.Market, Kanta Toli Chowk, on 03/09/2004, keeping in view of the increase in the enrolment of students.
  3. The inaugural program of new study centre was organised on 03/10/2004 in which Mr. V.P. Rupam, Regional Derector, IGNOU, Dr. Anwar Ahmad Khan, Pro Vice-chancellor, Ranchi University and Mr. Dr. Debashish Gupta, IAS attended the function.
  4. The Trust launched a special campaign i.e “Promoting Education in Jharkhand to achieve 100% literacy in the month of Oct. 2004.
  5. 3 New P-IV machines were upgraded for the IGNOU Centre from the corpus fund on 24/10/2004.
  6. Trust purchased copyright software for BCA and MCA revised syllabus of the worth Rs. 82,700/- on 03/01/2005.
  7. Trust received the certificate of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) on 10/02/2005 from Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India for receiving foreign donations.
  8. Total 153 Students enrolled for the new semester in Jan. 2005 for the courses for BCA, MCA and CIC.
  9. Total 24 Nos. of scholarship were given for the students of One Year Diploma in Computer Application of both the institutes of SCTGC & SIIT of Rs. 14,985/- in the year 2004-05.
  10. Total 1134 Nos. of Books equivalent to Rs. 68,040/- were freely distributed among students of SCTGC & SIIT in the year 2004-05.
  11. Fifth convocation of SCTGC & SIIT was organised on 22/05/2005 in which 67 no. Of students were awarded Diploma in Computer Application & Multilingual DTP .
  12. The Chief Guest of the fifth convocation was Mr. Inder Singh Namdhari, Hon’b speaker Jharkhand Assembly. The Guests of Honour were Mr. Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee, Chairman, Minority Commission and Jb. Alamgir Alam MLA, Jharkhand Assembly.
Year 2005-2006
  1. Under the 100% literacy campaign of the trust three “Corner Meetings”and Educational Awareness Campaign was organized in village “Barwey” , “Anandi” ,and “Kamta” under “Ormanjhi” block on 11/12/05 , 25/12/05 & 14/09/06 respectively .

  2. Trust purchased 6 No’s of latest Pentium –IV machines of worth Rs. 1,02,960/- on 01/07/2005 to set up another Computer Lab. for IGNOU BCA & MCA Courses.
  3. With the help of above latest machines and Copyright software the Trust is now able to establish 3 Computer labs having 30 machines.
  4. A project proposal of “Opening of a Residential School up to 10+2 level in Rural area” was submitted on 09.11.2005 to Maulana Azad Education Foundation(MAEF), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, New Delhi for Financial Assistance.
  5. The Trust submitted a project proposal for the grant of 35 AC to National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare, Deptt. Of Revenue, New Delhi on 06.02.2006.
  6. Sixth Convocation of both the computer institutes i,e, SCTGC, Bariatu and SIIT, Kantatoli was organized on 12.04.2006 in which 46 No’s of students were awarded Diploma in Computer Application & Multilingual DTP.
  7. The Chief Guest of the Sixth Convocation was Shree Subodh Kant Sahay, Hon’b Minister of State for Food Processing, Govt. of India,New Delhi. The Guests of Honour was Jb Er. N.A. Siddiqui Chief Engineer, JSEB and the meeting was presided by Shree Nirmal Minj, Former Principal Gossener College,Ranchi.
  8. A Seminar Cum Workshop was also organized on “Promoting Education in Jharkhand to achieve 100% literacy” on 12.04.2006.
  9. Total 1110 Nos. of computer books equivalent to Rs. 66,600/- were freely distributed among students of SCTGC and SIIT, in the year 2005-06.
  10. Total 21 Nos. of scholarship were given among the poor but meritorious students of worth Rs. 17,250/- in the year 2005-06.
Year 2006-2007
  1. The Present strength of students in different courses in all the three institutes are as follows:-
    i. IGNOU MCA,BCA and CIC : 285
    ii. NCPUL One Year DCA/DTP Course at SCTGC,Bariatu : 47
    iii. NCPUL One Year DCA/DTP Course at SIIT,Kantatoli : 42
    iv. Centre for Advance Software Training : 52
    v. Part time courses : 30

  2. Enlistment of 35AC Project Proposal of the Trust on the web site of Deptt. of Revenue ,Ministry of Finance ,New Delhi vide reference no. NC-270/99/2006.
  3. Trust purchased 5 Nos. of machines for above institutes ,thus having 35 Nos. of Computers in all three labs.
  4. Total 1564 Nos. of computer and Urdu books equivalent to Rs. 93,840/- were freely distributed among students of SCTGC and SIIT, in the year 2006-07.
  5. Free Typhoid Vaccination Camp was organized in the village “Kutey”,in “Ormanjhi block” of Ranchi District on 03/09/06 in which more than 400 children were immunized below ten years.
  6. 350 Kg of food grains were distributed among “Below Poverty Line” people of “Sattar Colony” ,”Morabadi” and “Kishunpur locality in Ranchi district during 18/10/06 to 23/10/06.
  7. Founder Chairman presented the Project proposal of Opening a Residential School in Ormanjhi in front of Central Panel of IDB and delegation from IDB ,Jeddah at Pune on 2nd Dec. 2006.
  8. Establishment of partnership was initiated by the Trust with Community Co-ordination Initiative (CCI) and Trust became the Founder Member of CCI. The representative of CCI met with Dr. Rajesh Tandon, President-PRIA, Mr. Pooran Chandra Pandey, CEO-Voluntary Action Network India (VANI), New Delhi and Mr. Nicholas McKinlay-CEO, Agha Khan Foundation on 13 & 14th Nov. 2006 at New Delhi. Trust Secretary was present in CCI delegation.
  9. Trust Secretary attended the annual conference of Sa-Dhan, an association of Community Development Finance Institution, held in New Delhi on January 17-18, 2007. It will help the Trust in interfacing Muslim micro-financing agencies with the mainstream financial institutions.
  10. Trust obtained the Voluntary Action Network India (VANI), Membership on 01/03/07. Trust became the only Muslim NGO in Jharkhand to become the 290th VANI member in India.
